If there's one thing Austinites know how to dress for, it's music festivals.  In fact, while out of towners take time planning their "festival attire", Austinites have it easy because we maintain closets full of festival appropriate garb year round.  But if there's one music festival that might take more time getting dressed for, it's Austin Psych Fest.  While Psych Fest is certainly one of the chillest music festivals you will attend, it's also one of the most fashionable.  The music undoubtedly influences what attendees wear, and the style of the 60's and 70s plays a big role in helping produce a visual aesthetic that matches the psychedelic rock vibe of the festival. This year Austin Psych Fest was bigger than ever being held at Carson Creek Ranch which provided a beautiful backdrop for the laid back fest, and even allowed fest-goers to camp out in tents for the weekend.  Trends at Psych Fest this year included bell bottoms, round frame sunglasses, wide brim hats, and lace up boots.  Some Psych Fest-goers looked like they stepped right out of a 1969 photograph, while others kept things more modern by mixing in more current pieces to their look.  But if you chose to wear bright colors to the festival, you definitely stood out because black was the most popular color of the weekend. A part of my liver might have died, my hearing got a little worse, and I'm now limping thanks to some sort of weird knot in my left foot.  Like being cooped up inside a Las Vegas casino or a vacation cruise ship, I lost all sense of time while riding the wave of SXSW but fully embraced the shenanigans.  But besides being the best time in Austin to experience free drinks, free music, free tacos, and free headaches, SX is also the best time to snap street style photos in Austin.  People flock from around the globe to experience the madness, and with them bring a cornucopia of styles for us to feast our eyes upon. This year was all about stand out accessories such as interesting head wraps, bold jewelry, statement sunglasses, cammo prints, and sneakers.  2013 brought out more of an urban street-wear vibe as opposed to the bohemian festival-wear vibe that has been popular in years past.  This change can perhaps be attributed to the inclusion of a lot more hip hop and rap acts to the festival this year, as well as the growing national trend towards urban wear.  Check out all the stylish people who caught my eye during SXSW this past week!... "I'm a grandma", she exclaimed, after I asked if I could document her style on my blog.  She was popping out in technicolor in front of a backdrop of black rimmed glasses and blue t-shirt wearing boys at the Apple store.  Her watch was acid yellow, I was wearing my acid yellow dress, and I knew instantly that we would get along.   Besides our obvious shared love of bright colors, I discovered she also shared my love of the store Top Shop.  Sheila brightened up my trip to the Genius Bar and brightened up my day by proving that you can be stylish (and a badass) at any age.
