The Mash Up Team Photo competition is one of my favorite parts of Austin Fashion Week, and probably yours too. Who doesn’t love looking at fashion photography? I’ve been judging the Mash Up Team photos from the comfort of my own laptop for a couple of years now, but this year I was honored to get to emerge from my blogger cave to be one of the judges for the Crtitic’s Choice Award. I won’t lie, based off of the photos from past years, I was expecting to walk into the Austin Fashion Week headquarters to see a level of creativity and talent that honestly has been somewhat underwhelming and uninspiring.
But what I saw when I came to judge this year’s Mash Up Team photos was first of all, a major increase in the number of participants, and second of all, an increase in talent. Yes there are still a few photos in the bunch that I wouldn’t ever want to look at twice, but overall the quality this year was at a much higher level. There were a couple of photos that I believe stood out above the rest, with one photo in particular which I would actually describe as inspiring. In fact, I was blown away by it! But, I will resist saying which photo is my favorite until the voting is over because I don’t want to dissuade you from choosing your own favorite.
Voting closes at noon on May 1st, so you have until then to vote away! You can vote for multiple photos, but can only vote for the same photo once.
