What: The Lifeworks White Party
Where: The Long Center
When: Friday, Mar. 25th, 2012
The White Party is like a really awesome wedding reception, except everyone is the bride. There aren’t that many parties in Austin that actually have a dress code, so the White Party is something special. While I’m sure there are regular attendees who all year long have the White Party in the back of their mind while shopping, I on the other hand always find myself scrambling for something white to wear at the last minute. Luckily Shari hooked me up and brought out every white dress she had at Charm School Vintage for me to try on. I ended up opting for a romper instead, a vintage number circa 1990 with shoulder pads, a matching belt, and big gold buttons. It’s hard to stand out when everyone is forced to wear the same color, so I knew vintage would be the way to go for someone like me who’s not a fan of looking exactly like everyone else.
While at times I found myself just staring out into a sea of white and Kendra Scott necklaces, there were a few outfits that stood out amongst the crowd. Valerie Velasquez, who puts the V in MKV Productions, was wearing the best shoes of the night – 70s inspired platforms wooden heels in purple velvet. I also loved her choice of orangey red lip color for another pop of color.
