My freshman year of college I got stuck with a roommate who had a framed photo of herself.  When I saw that photo go up on the shelf I knew the dorm mothers hadn’t even bothered to try and match us up with people we would get along with. Of course, this was right before the explosion of Facebook, before Twitter, before Instagram, and before the word “selfie” was in the dictionary.  Now years later here I am posting photos of myself on my blog wearing a button of my own face.

Insta Pins is a cool company based here out of Austin that takes your Instagrams and turns them into pins that you can put on your jacket, backpack, hat, wherever.  I thought this was a really cool idea, so I jumped on the opportunity to get some of my own gramz turned into wearable accessories.  You get to choose 8 photos, and you’re allowed to go all the way back to your very first Instagrams.

You can really learn a lot about yourself when scrolling through your photo feed and deciding which photos you would actually be comfortable wearing.  Some self loathing might even set in when you realize how many selfies you have taken, or you might question every hair style you have ever had over the past 4 years, or you might realize that you have the cutest dog on the planet.  I wanted to choose some photos that I could be proud of, photos that would somehow represent my personality, and maybe some photos that would just look good on a denim jacket.  Here are the photos I chose and why:

1) Twiggy – because she’s one of my favorite style icons and looks good on a pin

2) Old photo from the 60s of my parents looking super cute – because it’s cute

3) Old photo of my mom looking beautiful – because I love her

4) selfie – in case I ever run for President, I’ll obviously need to have a button with my face on it

5) 3 photos of Boo – because #itsboosworld

6) Popeyes fried chicken – because I wanted to be able to answer “Popeyes fried chicken” when someone inevitably asks “what is on that pin?”

Go get yourself some pins made! The whole set of 8 is only $10 with the code.
