Every year fashion becomes more and more a part of SXSW. Rightfully so, since fashion and music are like soulmates. I put together a list for y’all of the biggest fashion events happening during SXSW this year. Check em out!
The Neighborhood
The creators of StyleX, the first official infusion of style into SXSW during 2011 and 2012, have switched things up a bit this year with “The Neighborhood.” With the same goal that Style X had which was to inform attendees about new brands and what’s next in fashion, The Neighborhood is taking place in the 2nd District shopping district. Besides the pop up shops from local and non-local emerging brands, there will be daily Q&A sessions with leaders in the fashion industry, including John Varvatos, Billy Reid, and Leandra Medine of The Man Repeller.
I will also be speaking on one of the panels for The Neighborhood discussing Austin style. Come say hi to me and feel free to bring questions that will make me feel awkward! I will be speaking at 2pm on March 14th along with Indiana Adams of Adored Austin, Dan Gentile of Thrillist, and Caitlin Ryan of CultureMap.
And there will be a recharge lounge for all you tired shoppers and bloggers needing somewhere to sit down and cool down, or charge your iPad or whatever gizmo you are rocking…
No RVP needed.
Market at Auditorium Shores
During the last few days of SXSW, Auditorium Shores becomes a 3 day live music series that is Free and open to the public. This year is the first year that art and fashion is being added to the mix with “The Market.” The Market vendors will be open for selling from 3:30pm-10pm on March 14th and 15th, and 12pm-10pm on March 16th at the Auditorium Shores Music Series.
