Do you practice your “smize” in the mirror? Is your Instagram full of selfies?  Do you treat the sidewalk like your own personal catwalk?  If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you might be ready for Top Austin Model.  The local modeling competition, now in its 3rd year, is back and ready for a whole new group of fierce Austinites to strut their stuff.  The first Top Austin Model event kicks off in just a couple of weeks where models will walk in front of an audience (the event is free and open to the public), and 15 models will be chosen by a panel of judges to move onto the next round.

Besides getting involved in the local fashion industry and getting to meet some great contacts, this competition is also a good learning experience for new models or even those who have never modeled before.  The models will get advice from Top Austin Model creator and model herself Brianna Fleet and will participate in several photo shoots throughout the competition.  So even if you don’t walk away with the title of “Top Austin Model”, you will walk away with gained experience and possibly some relationships with those already in the local fashion industry.

Last year’s winner Claire Graves today says that the competition has helped her realize her potential as a model and her advice to future contestants is that “Winning shouldn’t be the end, it’s only the beginning.” Check out my interview and photo shoot with Claire Graves after her win last year here.  This year’s winner will also be featured here on my blog with a photo shoot and interview, so I’m super excited to follow this competition and find out who wins!
