When a store that has been around for a decade finally shuts its doors, everyone wonders what will take its place. When Goodie Two Shoes on South Congress decided to close its brick and mortar store in May, I myself wondered if we would soon be seeing an equally trendy and inexpensive boutique fill the empty space. What arose instead, a few months later, is a boutique with a similar trendiness, but with a more purposeful stock of clothing and accessories. While Goodie Two Shoes had quantity, the newest shop to hit the SoCo district elevenELEVEN has more quality.
While clothing and shoes seem to be the main focus of elevenELEVEN, there is also a pretty decent collection of jewelry and other accessories. Some of the more stand out pieces I found included a really interesting feather necklace painted with gold, and, the collection of greeting cards which included pictures of animals dressed as musicians and style icons. Who wouldn’t be happy receiving a card with a picture of a pug that looks like Karl Lagerfeld or a kitty cat Lady Gaga?
I ended up walking away from elevenELEVEN with a few items in my shopping bag. I found a super adorable and Austin essential floral summer dress for $60 that could easily transition into Fall/Winter with tights and boots, as well as a few greeting cards to give to friends and family. Their selection of shoes is pretty large compared to most of the boutiques in town, but I didn’t find any I was dying to try on (most were still Spring/Summer styles) so I was able to dodge the bullet of buying another pair of shoes.
Although still a boutique, elevenELEVEN is one of the more inexpensive local stores. The prices are comparable to that of another local favorite, SoLa, with most items falling under $100. Although not as inexpensive as its predecessor, Goodie Two Shoes, elevenELEVEN is still a good place to find some fairly inexpensive clothes on trend. Some of the more popular and stylish brands you’ll find at eleven ELEVEN include Dolce Vita, Stylestalker, lovers + friends, and Shutz. Overall I found elevenELEVEN to be a cute store that I would be happy to return to. If you’re making the trip to shop on South Congress, it’s definitely worth stopping by before you hit up the vintage and other shops farther down the road.
