Yesterday was Fashion’s Night Out and I might have thrown a little kid in the grocery store line tantrum that I couldn’t wear a cool new Fall outfit.  Luckily I kept my tantrum to myself and my neighbor in the condo below me didn’t have to hear the metaphorical stomping that was going on inside my head.  But seriously, I am so sick of my summer clothes.  Normally I am not one to complain about the heat (I’ve grown up in Texas and lived in Austin for 8 years now, I’m used to it.)  I actually much rather it be hot than cold, and I love Summer.  But, I’ve just really been itching to wear new clothes.  I’ve worn all my summer dresses to death and I can’t take it anymore.  I want to wear my black cowboy hat, I want to wear leather pants, and I want to wear even just a blazer without sweating to death.  A cool front is coming in this weekend but we all know that won’t last long.  Let’s face it, we have at least another month of Summer.  I’ve been thinking of ways to stay positive about getting dressed lately:

1) Buy a multi-seasonal accessory.

If you want to buy something new, invest in something that you can be excited to wear now AND once it gets cool.  Suggestion: sunglasses.   I’ve been kinda lusting after these Pradas for awhile…

2) Update your hair.

A new color, cut, or even just a new hairstyle can make you excited to walk outside again.  I’m so sick of my top knot I could almost just cut it off right now as I type this.  But maybe I’ll try this “windswept” look instead…seems like something one could easily achieve by maybe walking through a wind tunnel…

3) New makeup.

The clothes you have been wearing all Summer can look surprisingly fresh if you have a new lipstick or new makeup technique to play with.  I think I’m going to try the shade Morange by MAC next…

4) Avoid fashion magazines.

This one is actually impossible for me to do, and as long as you are aware that you are putting yourself in a sort of “look but don’t touch” situation you might be fine.  Just know that if you look at one while inside an air conditioned room and then walk outside, you might end up shaking your fist in the air like a disgruntled old man.

Hope this helps!
