Are you overwhelmed with Austin Fashion Week event invites yet? It’s no SXSW, but there certainly is tons to do this week! After the kick off this Friday, events start in the 2nd St. District on Saturday. Here are a few of my suggestions of parties you don’t wanna miss on Saturday (in order of start time) and they are all FREE! :
What: live interactive window of Luxe fashions, free cocktails and snacks, raffles, and giveaways
Where: Luxe Apothetique, 201 W. 2nd St.
When: 3-5 pm
Why we chose this event: a good event and location to get things started!
What: Manic Trout jewelry showcase (cute vintage inspired bold animal jewelry by local designer Sierra Bailey), free tapas and margaritas by Cantina Laredo, music by DJ Anthem
Where: Duo, 225 W.2nd St.
When: 5-8 pm
Why we chose this event: the food!
What: Ruthless showcase by Ruth Waddy (a recent Austin transplant from Portland whose line incorporates recycled fabric, plastic, and rubber)
Where: Austin Rocks, 301 W.2nd St.
When: 6-8 pm
Why we chose this event: the unique fashion!
What: Jacknboots Vintage showcase, free cocktails by One Hope Wine and Leprechaun Hard Cider, music by DJ Manolo Black, photos by uLovei from 7:30-8:30
Where: Gallery D, 436 W.2nd St.
When: 7-9 pm
Why we chose this event: to get our photo taken by Miguel! (hey, if we’re gonna get dressed up, we want our outfit documented!)
What: Crowned Bird showcase (one of my favorite local designers- super cute 60s inspired clothing with a modern edge by designer Priscilla Barroso, photobooth by Paige Ann Newton, free cocktails by Sphilka vodka, sweet treats, and a Crowned Bird giveaway
Where: Etcetera Etc. (one of my favorite stores on 2nd St!), 411 W.2nd St.
When: 7-10 pm
Why we chose this event: the chance to win clothes from Crowned Bird!
What: runway show feat. Electric Frenchie’s “Time Capsule” collection curated by Charm School Vintage and Erika Pinktipps, Bloomers, and Joie de Vie Salon, styling by our own Style Profile alum Jenny Woys!, free cocktails and snacks, live music by SHAKEY GRAVES, an exhibit from local artists Jeffrey Swanson & Tom Runkle, and Raffle prizes benefiting the GRAM PARSONS FOUNDATION
Where: Joie de Vie Salon, 713 E.6th St.
When: 7-10 pm
Why we chose this event: vintage curations from Charm School Vintage and styling by Jenny Woys!
There are plenty of events going on and if you’re willing to hop around, you might be able to check out ALL the events (or at least most of them) and can even sync the schedule to your phone! Happy Fashion Week!
