She may not be creating recipes anymore, but this food blogger turned hat maker, is still cooking up some scrumptious designs.  Amanda Joyner a.k.a. Chef Bizzaro has taken the old school craft of millinery and modernized it by creating fun, funky, and sometimes bizarre headwear.  Amanda says she first got into hat making when she saw an old classic pillbox hat in a vintage store and was dying to own it!  While her husband said no to the hat purchase, Amanda said yes to learning how to make her very own hats.  After the overwhelming response she got from friends and others, Amanda has turned the personal hobby into a small business.

With a name like Chef Bizzaro, it’s no wonder that Amanda is originally from Austin.  She resides in Michigan City now, but luckily Amanda was able to come back to Austin recently for her own hat trunk show at Ensemble: Austin Indie Designers.  I went to go check out her hats and I was charmed by her quirky creations, especially her adorable cupcake hat!  Amanda just started a Kickstarter campaign to raise some funds to help keep her hat making going, so if you like what you see here, head on over and donate to this millinery maiden.
