I have two Facebook accounts. One for my “personal” profile which, after deciding to accept friend requests from people within the fashion industry and occasionally accepting friend requests from random people I have met at parties, doesn’t seem to be so personal anymore. The other is a page for this here blog which I use to interact with the followers of my blog, local Austin companies, stores, and designers. I spend most of my time on Facebook using it as “Keep Austin Stylish” instead of “Joanna Wilkinson.” Why? Because when using Facebook as “Joanna Wilkinson” I see crappy photos of unrecognizable old friends, annoying articles, and photos of kids of people who I don’t even remember. And when using Facebook as “Keep Austin Stylish” I see things like this…
These photos were taken of Austin based hair stylist and owner of Red Ivy Hair Salon, Ivy Kim‘s work and were used as her recent submissions to NAHA, the North American Hairstyling Awards. I’ve been to a few fashions shows in town that have featured hair by Ivy Kim, and her hair stylings are always extremely creative works of art. These photos are no exception and I can’t stop staring at them.
You can check out the chosen 2012 finalists of NAHA here which does include 2 other Austin based hair stylists, Liz Nevin and Alan Ruiz as finalists in the Hairstylist of the Year award! Way to represent, Austin!
Also, the awesome costumes in these photos were designed by local designer Valeri Jinxy Abrego-Liszewski of Jinxedaposed, and the photos feature all local based models.
