It’s the end of the year which means it’s time to compile a list (and convince yourself that next year you will be healthier)! I sat and pondered about the fashions of this year, browsed my catalogue of Style Watch posts, and I have compiled a list of what I believe to be the most popular Fashion Trends of Austin in 2011…
Jeffrey Campbells
I saw more and more women willing to disappoint guys with Napoleon complexes this year thanks to the rise in popularity of Jeffrey Campbell with their funky platforms such as the “Lita”. Will the funky platform shoe continue on in 2012?
Not your Mama’s Jort
The jean short made a major comeback this year, but got a much edgier vibe with some distressing and (thanks to Dog and Pony) some special studding.
Rings, Rings, and More Rings
The “Arm Party” was a popular accessory trend this year across the country, but here in Austin the “Hand Party” still had the most attendance.
I’m a Quarter Native American
Across Austin, both males and females this year yearned to be a part of a tribe. Or, at least dress kinda like they belonged in one.
The Lace Bell Bottom
Everyone wanted to look like they walked out of a Free People catalogue this year with black lace bell bottoms. Thanks to Savannahred designer, Anslee Connell, even the curvy girl could get a pair.
I Just Got Back From New Mexico!
The Southwestern print started showing up everywhere this year. Whether it was vintage or brand new, you probably now own something appropriate for watching the sun set across the dessert.
Honorable Mentions:
The Sheer Skirt
Ombre Hair
What was your favorite fashion trend of 2011? What pieces will you still be rockin’ in 2012, and what do you hope to never see again?
Any trends YOU think should have made the list?
